This 2-hour class explores the history of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement from its inception with the ICRC in 1863 all the way to the three components of the Movement today. The second part of the course describes in more details the structures and activities of the ICRC, the IFRC and the 190 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a global humanitarian network of 80 million people (more than 17 million volunteers) that helps those facing disaster, conflict, health and social problems. It consists of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the 190 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
